Online conference dedicated to the intellectual virtues and vices of modern versions of relativism took place at the Institute of philosophy within the framework of Philosophical seminar on July 8, 2020. Master of Philosophy Ivan Golubev made a presentation “Epistemological virtues of relativism. Experience of research by M. Bagramyan and (critical reception) by M. Kush”.

The issues of epistemology of virtues, epistemic relativism, assessment of the relativistic position from the point of view of epistemology of virtues were considered. There was made the conclusion that relativism does not contribute to the cultivation of such intellectual qualities as an open mind, intellectual humility and modesty, curiosity and intellectual courage, epistemic justice, love of truth and knowledge, and others. At the same time, the question of the epistemic virtue of some versions of epistemic relativism remains open.

The conference and seminar were organized by Igor Pris.
