17.07.2019

July 17, 2019 at the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, director of the Ecumenical Christian Center in Whitefield (Bangalore, India), professor Matthew Chandrankunnel (Prof. Dr. Mathew Chandrankunnel, Director, Ecumenical Christian Center, Whitefield, Bangalore) made a presentation on the theme “Science and philosophy of holism”. The report was read in English.

Summary: Science and technology evolved basing on the belief in the sacred and its inscription of a pattern into nature which gradually lost because of a reductionist approach leading to the secularization of the culture and the society. Thus, humanity is facing a crisis in the culture leading to meaninglessness and hopelessness. Hence, it is very important to look for the holistic account of humanity, a transcendent reality that can only give meaning and hope. Thus, science and technology need the sacred in order to compliment and realize its fullness.
