Cooperation with EU countries

*This section is presented with usage of materials of the «Compendium on Science & Research Cooperation between the European Union and the Russian Federation», © European Communities, 2009.
European and Belarusian scientists and research organisations have been working together in all areas of science in the context of many bilateral programmes of the EU 27 member states, in the context of programmes funded and managed by the European Union (such as EU Framework Programmes for Research & Technological Development, TACIS), as well as through pan-European science organisations (such as INTAS, COST, the European Science Foundation) and international organisations and initiatives (such as CERN, the International Science & Technology Center (ISTC), ITER).
Many EU Member States have bilateral inter-governmental or inter-institutional cooperation agreements with Belarus.
At the same time, Belarussian research programmes and foundations, such as the Belarussian Foundation for Basic Research, have over the same period increasingly reached out to their European partners to involve them in joint activities.
