The monograph is devoted to one of the typical phenomena in the history of the intellectual culture of Belarus – religious polemics of the late 16th – mid 17th centuries, which touched upon not only the issues of Christian dogma, but also a wide range of socio-philosophical problems. The socio-philosophical content of polemical texts is considered; it is demonstrated how different confessions in a multi-confessional country saw differently the goals of the state and the ways of forming a nation, understood national identity, social equality, relationships between the church, secular authorities and society.
It is intended for specialists, teachers, graduate students, and students of humanitarian specialties, as well as for anyone interested in the origins of the Belarusian identity.
