In July 2009 the 49th meeting of the ISTC Governing Board was held in Minsk, it was attended by over 60 representatives from 38 states. At the meeting six new projects worth over 2.7 million dollars for work in Russia, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan were approved. Of the 8 project proposals submitted to the Belarusian organizations, the ISTC Governing Board found the opportunity to support two applications prepared by the Institute of Nuclear Problems and the Institute of Physical and Chemical Problems of Belarusian State University, with a total funding of about $ 1 million. Among the important results of the meeting in Minsk we can note a decision to more actively involve researchers of younger generation to participate in the projects of the Centre, as well as the decision to expand the programmes on the improvement of the facilities of research institutions of the CIS. The decision "to adjust the criteria to govern the individual working procedures of the ISTC in order to make the organization more flexible and effective, which enable the Centre to better adapt to a changing environment" is The participation of Belarusian specialists in all programs and projects of the ISTC, from the stage of the proposal development to commercialization phase, is supported by the Belarusian regional office of the ISTC, the basic principal activities of which are conducting advice and assistance to scientists and engineers in the design of new ISTC project proposals and plans for work on funded projects, lending the organizational and advisory support to the running ISTC projects, including the implementation of interaction between the staff of the Secretariat of the ISTC and the managers of the financed or coming forward projects; the establishment and maintaining a database on the claimed and funded projects with the participation of Belarusian scientists and experts, organisation and conduct of training courses, scientific and technical seminars and other events on the problems dealing with the activities of the ISTC, the assistance to those who implement projects in purchasing, shipping and customs clearance of the equipment supplied to the Republic of Belarus to implement the projects funded by the ISTC; the assistance in organizing and conducting seminars, exhibitions, presentations, conferences and other events related to the activities of the ISTC; the assist to those who implement projects in the solution of problems related to intellectual property protection, technology transfer and other aspects of the commercialization of the results of scientific and technical activities; organization of business trips of delegations of representatives of the Parties, Partners and ISTC Secretariat, auditors and collaborators, and rendering them necessary assistance in carrying out technical and auditing checking of the implementation of projects, etc. conceptual in nature.
