House of Soviets in Mogilev

House of Soviets in Mogilev. It was built in 1937-1939 years on the project of I. Langbard. The city-forming role of the building as a dominant in the ensemble of Lenin Square is the defining concept in its architectural solutions. At the core of the composition of the building is the tier scheme formed by the volumes increasing towards the centre and forming a kurdoner similar to the Government House in Minsk. Compared to the government building in the architectural solution of the House of Soviets there is a decrease of the dynamics characteristic for constructivism, geometrised structuring of the volume and approach to the softened plastic of Art Deco. The Central eight-seven-storey volume is connected by rounded inserts with side wings. The facades are solved with the rhythm of vertical blades. In 1958, a monument to Lenin (architect V. Volchek, sculptor P. Sabsay ) was established in front of the building.
