International activities are based on the following directions:



• admissions of foreign citizens on the basis of contracts and in the framework of bilateral intergovernmental agreements;



• bilateral academic cooperation with foreign universities and foundations;



• work within the international academic projects / programs with foreign universities and organizations;



• promotional work to attract foreign nationals to study and take internships at the Belarusian State Economic University;



• analysis of international information received via e-mail, Internet, and search for new partners to implement joint academic projects.



For more than 30 years, BSEU provides training of specialists from abroad. The university has about 500 foreign citizens from 22 countries in Asia, Africa, Middle East, Europe, the Baltics and the CIS. In recent years, this number is increasing by 80-100 people. In their turn, students, postgraduates and professors of the Belarusian State Economic University are directed to study and training to several countries, including European Union countries: France, Germany and Italy.



The university has signed bilateral agreements on academic cooperation in the sphere of education with more than 70 foreign universities and research organizations from 17 countries. This activity is being strengthened and expanded. Today, the Belarusian State Economic University is a member of several international associations and organizations:



• the network of the UNCTAD Virtual Institute;



• the Eurasian Universities Association (EUA);



• the International Association of Teachers of Russian as a Foreign Language (MAPRYAL)



• European Academy of Retail trade (ERA).



In the framework of existing bilateral agreements, university carries out academic exchanges for professors and students, carries out joint research, publishes textbooks and educational materials, participates in international scientific conferences, seminars and educational exhibitions.



Together with partners from Germany, Italy and other European countries the University realizes international projects. Higher School of Tourism in collaboration with partners from Germany and Italy is successfully working on a project funded by the European Union, which aims is the modernization and implementation of business and educational programs to train specialists in the tourism industry of the Republic of Belarus. With the support of the University of Applied Sciences (Berlin), in the framework of cooperation in the network of the UNCTAD Virtual Institute, the development of master programs on World Economy in English language is carried out.



The improvement of the quality of training of the future specialists and in-depth study of foreign languages contributes to the invitation of foreign professors and lecturers from France, Germany, Poland and countries outside the EU to the University.



BSEU does not limit itself to cooperation with foreign universities, through bilateral agreements, but works with them in the framework of international projects (TEMPUS-TACIS, DAAD) and inter-exchange agreements in the sphere of education.



The realization of the project “Establishment of a system of retraining and refresher training of managers and professionals of tourism industry in the Republic of Belarus” implemented in the framework of TEMPUS program and EU funding, will create a flexible and mobile system of retraining and refresher training of the professionals of the tourism industry of the Republic of Belarus, will prepare, test and implement new educational technologies in educational process and practical activity of enterprises of tourism industry of Belarus.



Teaching and methodical department for international relations regularly holds presentations of overseas academic programs in Germany, USA, Italy, etc. In the framework of various academic programs (conferences, seminars, round tables) in 2006, 121 professor, postgraduate and student of BSEU were abroad. Graduate students, undergraduates and students of BSEU were regularly awarded with diplomas of varying degrees in international conferences and competitions.



In March 2007, the university administration decided to join the network of the UNCTAD Virtual Institute, which will enhance cooperation with international organizations and universities of various countries in the field of economic education and scientific research.



Geographical expansion of international ties, the desire of foreign universities to cooperate with the Belarusian State Economic University and participation of the University in international academic organizations, testify its growing recognition and prestige at the international academic arena.
