Easter
Easter (Vyalikden,Vyalikanne,Vyalichko) is the most solemn and beloved spring festival. Painted eggs and cakes are necessary attributes of Easter. After the festive service all the villagers in smart clothes converged on the massive Easter festival with dances and songs. When they met each other they exchanged traditional greetings: "Christ is Risen!" - "Truly He is Risen!" - And they kissed three times. The favourite pastime both for children and adults at Easter was rolling and breaking eggs. On a visit to the children godparent and grandmothers brought gifts. From the second day of Easter groups of volochebniki walked in Belarusian villages and congratulated the hosts on the holiday.
