The Institute took part in the organization of the scientific and practical conference “Towards the Minsk Process: the Values of the West-East Dialogue”

On March 22, 2018, the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus jointly with the Faculty of International Relations of the Belarusian State University and with the support of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Mission in Belarus conducted a scientific and practical conference “Towards the Minsk Process: the Values ​​of the West-East Dialogue”. The most important task of the conference was to examine current processes of interstate and cultural and civilizational development, to demonstrate peace initiatives of Belarus aimed at consolidating international forces and relations in the name of preserving peace on earth and ensuring decent development of states and peoples.

Representatives of scientific and expert circles of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Poland, Germany and other countries took part in the conference. In his address to the conference participants, the director of the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Anatoly Lazarevich noted that “the fact that the conference takes place on March 22, 2018 – the day of the 75th anniversary of the tragedy in Khatyn, is symbolic. This tragic event should once again recall the responsibility of modern political leaders and international organizations for preserving peace on earth and harmonizing international relations”. Among the most important tools for ensuring interstate political and cultural dialogue, Anatoly Lazarevich singled out the humanitarian value of philosophy.

During the speeches and discussions of the conference participants, the issues of coordination of the processes of regional and global integration, national and cultural development, search for new forms of development of the dialogue between East and West, etc., were actualized.
