Belarusian State Technical University
 
BSTU partners are foreign educational and research institutions of Poland, France, Greece, Lithuania, Latvia, Sweden, Finland and other countries.
Currently BSTU operates 62 treaties on cooperation with organizations from 22 countries. As an example of the most active international cooperation can be the cooperation with the Aristotle University (Thessaloniki, Greece), on the basis of this joint research is conducted regularly, and reciprocal visits of scholars of both universities are done.
As part of the contract with the Bialystok Polytechnic University, regular discussion of results and approval of work plans, exchange of delegations, participation in the ongoing scientific and technical activities are done. Scholars of both universities carry out joint research to study the composition of waste water, sediment, air, agro-industrial areas using techniques regulated by national and international standards, develop recommendations for improving waste-water treatment systems of sewage sludge.
The cooperation with the Swedish Forest Agency is actively developing. In particular, in October 2009, as the invitation of BSTU, a delegation of specialists visited the university, during the visit it had signed an agreement of intent for the project “Negorelsky Model Forest” (based on Negorelsky-experienced forestry), which will take into account the experience of projects carried out with financial support from the Swedish Agency of International Development and Cooperation (Sida). The agreement established a working group comprising representatives from Swedish, Belarusian and Russian sides.
Each year around 130 personnel and graduate students travel abroad to participate in international scientific and technical activities, joint research, exchange of experiences with scientists from leading international scientific and educational centers, for internships and training. One of the most successful areas of international cooperation is the implementation of scientific and technological projects in the field of joint research and development of new technologies. Annually, on the bases of BSTU, number of scientific and technical conferences and seminars with representatives of foreign research and educational institutions are held. High-tech research and developments of the University are represented at international trade fairs and national expositions of the Republic of Belarus abroad (Hanover Industrial Fair, etc.).
BSTU is a member of the International Centre for Forestry and Forest Industries, and participates in the work of international institutions and associations such as the European Forest Institute, the UN Commission on the UN Food and Agriculture, the Institute of Forest in Central and Eastern Europe, the Institute for the Northern Dimension. In 2009 the university in a consortium with other Belarusian and foreign partners had received 5 applications for participation in international programs of Tempus and Visby. Coordinators of the project are the universities in Sweden (the University of Linnaeus), the Netherlands (the University of Applied Sciences), Slovakia (the University of Comenius). Currently these projects are under consideration at the Executive Agency of Education, Audiovisuals and Culture (EU) and the Swedish Institute.
